Kiasmos is made up of Icelandic BAFTA-winning composer Ólafur Arnalds, known for his unique blend of minimal piano and string compositions with electronic sounds, and Janus Rasmussen from the Faroe Islands, known as the mastermind of the electro-pop outfit Bloodgroup. They're based in Reykjavík, where the two musicians discovered their common love for minimal techno and experimental music.
With their collaborative electronic project they have dedicated themselves to explore the area in-between Ólafur’s more acoustic, piano-based solo work and Janus’s synth-heavy electro pop. In Mad Cool, they will be playing one of the few Live Shows they will make this summer, using acoustic instruments such as a drummer and live string quartet, next to a variety of synthesisers, drum machines and tape delays. With Ólafur performing on the grand piano and Janus creates detailed beats, glitches and off-field electronics.
