We all know the greatness of Jenny Lee Lindberg at bass, but maybe you didn’t know she was even chosen the best bassist ever. On July 2014 British magazine NME made a poll among their readers to choose the best musicians on the instrument. A list of 40 players crowded by Warpaint’s bassist over the likes of Paul McCartney, Lemmy (Motörhead) or Jon Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). NME compared her style to a “spidery fret work” and Reuben Chiles, one of the voters in the pool, assured her work is “totally what makes that band” Lindberg was born on July 30, 1981 in Elko, Nevada.
She founded Warpaint with Emily Kodal , Theresa Wayman and sister Shanny Sossamon in 2004, soon after relocating to Los Angeles. She released three studio albums with the band, as well as a solo work (right on!) in 2015.
As a bassist she prays PIL’s Jah Wobble as a reference, but she also cited among her influences the likes of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Carly Simon or Kraftwerk.
