Lali Puna is a German electronic, shoegaze-influenced pop band led by Korean singer Valerie Trebeljahr. Over the years, the band was joined by musicians such as Markus Acher (The Notwist, Tied + Tickled Trio), Florian Zimmer, Christian Heiss and Christoph Brandner (also a member of Tied + Tickled Trio). They have also collaborated with relevant international artists including Yukihiro Takahashi (Yellow Magic Orchestra), Keith Tenniswood (Two Lone Swordsmen) and Dntel.
The debut single The Safe Sade appeared in 1998. Since then, Lali Puna have released the studio albums Tridecoder (1999), Scary World Theory (2001), Left Handed (2003), Faking The Books (2004), Our Inventions (2010) and Two Windows (2017).
Their latest album relaunched the band following a hiatus during which Trebeljhar focused on her family and her career as a journalist. The album veers from their previous releases towards a more danceable and effervescent sound while retaining their signature pop sensibility.
