Madrid, June 19th.- Gentleman Clef, Red Gurd, Salio (Georgia), Sofi Marston, Staytons and Tirano, with Sheafs and The Gulps, from the UK edition, are the names of the eight winner bands of Mad Cool Talent 2019, an international contest for emerging bands, in which Vibra Mahou and Mad Cool Festival open their arms to young talent. They complete The Welcome Party and Mad Cool line up, during July 10th, 11th 12th and 13th at Valdebebas, after competing with over one thousand bands on the preliminary phases.
After three days of concerts that took place last week (June 11th, 12th and 14th at Sala Costello, Sala Sol and Sala Clamores), the fifteen shortlisted bands made it very difficult for the jury to decide and there was a tie in the voting. Because of this, they had no choice but to select six bands instead of five during this edition of the Mad Cool Talent.
The Gulps are now part of the Welcome Party line up while Gentleman Clef, Red Gurd, Salio, Sofi Marston, Staytons and Tirano with Sheafs close the Festival’s line up. Their dream is about to come true: sharing the same stage with artist like The Cure, Iggy Pop, Bon Iver, Smashing Pumpkins and Rosalía.
These bands applied along with about a thousand other bands and soloists from around the world. After the jury’s decision, - formed by Daniel López (Mondosonoro), Dani Marín (Costello Club), David Bonilla (A & R Warner), Javier Dean (Warner Chapell), Leire Alcalde (A & R Sony), Mar Rojo (Sala Sol), Paloma Sánchez (Sol Música) y Sara Quintela (A & R Subterfuge)– 64 of them went through popular vote. At the British edition, 50 bands were shortlisted by the prestigious publications NME and DIY. After this, only 15 moved on to the next round, live concerts. Finally, six- and two from the UK- has managed to become the winners and reach the goal of this contest, that was born four years ago: to promote and impulse emerging talent.
With this initiative, Mahou continues to demonstrate its compromise with music and shares passion, soul and closeness between artists and the public with a great flavor. Because each day, Mahou Cinco Estrellas tastes more like music.
