>> The festival is adding 30 new bands to its event on 8, 9, 10 and 11 July.

Mad Cool Festival is kicking off the new year with another wave of confirmations. London band Placebo is amongst the names that will be a part of Mad Cool Festival’s 5th Anniversary. Besides Brian Molko and his band, there are 29 other names that are being added to the festival’s line-up, with fascinating and influential groups such as Glass Animals, Parcels and Kali Uchis. Getting the New Year started with a new batch of additions that will be joining the previous one, that was announced late November, which unveiled names such as The Killers, Kings of Leon and Faith No More, amongst others.

Placebo is one of the alternative rock bands that have influenced music over the past 20 years the most, as evidenced by their 12 million sold records. The trio formed by vocalist-guitarist Brian Molko, bassist Stefan Olsdal and drummer Steve Hewitt, is the top exponent of urban glam, insolence and androgyny. This applies following the release of their 1996 homonymous debut album, which defined them as the antithesis of Britpop. Being responsible for at least five out of the ten best UK albums, Placebo has collaborated with legends such as David Bowie, Robert Smith and Michael Stipe. They are definitely a must-see at Mad Cool Festival 2020.

Glass Animals, the four-piece from Oxford has made its way to the international spotlight thanks to their peculiar mix of styles and sounds (from dream pop to trip hop, with some hints of jazz and R&B along the way): one of the new sensations from the ever prolific British Isles.

Parcels is an Australian group formed in Berlin, and is currently helping indie-pop making its biggest comeback. Their homonymous debut album is filled with instant hits that will surely delight both alternative music lovers and dance floor enthusiasts.

Colombo-American artist Kali Uchis is one of the most unclassifiable artists of our time. Her music is a cocktail that combines rap and contemporary R&B with easy-listening and lounge, spiced up with the essence of soul and pure 70’s funk.

These new 30 bands will be added to the 73 that were already announced last 29 October 2019.
